Happy Monday!

Hello! I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We were lucky enough to kick it off with our opening ceremonies to Relay For Life, here at Shorecrest on Friday.  The children were excited to celebrate our very own Super Hero, Manny E. on stage.  Then they joined a Senior buddy to take that ceremonial first walk around the track.  The school earned more than $75,000.00 toward cancer research.  That's something to really celebrate!

This week we are all a buzz!  The children will do an investigation on bees as part of our Insects unit.  Today we read the book Discovering Our World: Bees by Melvin and Gilda Berger.  The children have also enjoyed observing the bees in our flower garden.  They learned that bees are EXTREMELY important to our lives!  Without the bees, no flowering plants would grow! Ask your child about how the bees make things grow.  I bet you'll get all the buzz about it!!!

This Wednesday our class will take the bus to the Fine Arts Museum accompanied by our very own Docent, Mrs. Gootson!  She has taught the children so much about art and art appreciation this year.  It's their time to really shine and to see works by some of the artists they have learned about up close and personal. The staff of the Fine Arts Museum are always so impressed by the knowledge the children have of fine art and their artists.  Bravo!!!

Speaking of fine art.......
In Jr. Kindergarten we always celebrate the arts!  However, this April 16-20th we will have very special activities for a true Celebrate The Arts week.  Don't forget to mark Friday April 20th on your calendar for a special show and picnic beginning at 11am.  It's sure to be delightful!

Happy Monday!
